The Game of R.U.B.B.E.R.W.A.C.K

R.U.B.B.E.R.W.A.C.K. turns the classic basketball game H.O.R.S.E. into a hilarious and makeshift version? Swap out the ball for a rubber band, bid farewell to the hoop, and bring in a trusty (beer) can as the new target. Forget the formal court – we're playing this wacky game wherever you are! It's the ultimate test of skill, creativity, and a touch of randomness. Just be sure not to spill your drink while making those epic shots!

History:

Late in the night after a film festival, three filmmakers—Dustie Carter, Mike Dalton, and Steve Horne—stumbled upon a ridiculous number of rubber bands hidden in their Airbnb. With nothing much going on and a few cases of adult beverages, they decided to get creative. The clang of cans and the twang of stretched rubber became the soundtrack to the first-ever game of R.U.B.B.E.R.W.A.C.K.

The Basics:

  • A drink must be finished to set up a shot and begin the game or set up a shot.

  • You get as many shots as you want, but after 3 attempts, you cannot move your shot. You can reset as many times as you like (as long as you don't attempt a fourth shot)

  • If you finish your drink before the current WACKER has completed their shot, it's now a race to set the shot.

WACK= Person that has finished a drink, allowing them to attempt a shot

WACKER = Person that has successfully completed a shot. They continue to set shots until a WACK is born.

Official Rules

Rubber Social:

  • The game kicks off with a "Rubber Social," where all players simultaneously crack open their beverages, fostering a vibe of enjoyment and camaraderie.

  • During the Rubber Social, players are urged to embrace positive vibes with a strict no-smack-talk policy. It's a phase solely dedicated to good times.

WACKER:

  • The individual orchestrating the shot is dubbed the "WACKER."

  • To claim the title of WACKER, a player must finish their drink and expertly hit their intended target.

Taking Turns:

  • The initial WACK, chosen by virtue of being the first to finish their drink, launches a rubber band from a specified spot at the target - a finished beer can.

  • If the WACK successfully connects with the beer can, they earn the esteemed title of WACKER and pass the challenge to the next player. Failure results in a letter “R."

WACKER Continuation:

  • The reigning WACKER retains the privilege to set up shots until another player finishes their drink.

  • The next participant to complete their beverage (now known as a "WACK") seizes the opportunity to become the new WACKER, even as the former WACKER continues their quest to hit the target.

Defending / Giving a Letter:

  • If, on the first attempt, a defending player hits the set target after a successful WACK, the WACKER receives a letter.

Letter for the WACKER:

  • Should a WACK endeavor to replicate the current WACKER's shot and succeed before them, the current WACKER is awarded a letter.

  • The triumphant WACK becomes the new WACKER, endowed with the authority to set up subsequent shots.

Adding Letters:

  • Failing to hit the beer can target within the allocated attempts results in acquiring letters, spelling out “R.U.B.B.E.R.W.A.C.K."

Moving the Target:

  • After three unsuccessful attempts, the WACKER can opt to relocate the beer can for their next shot.

  • If the WACKER opts to keep the can stationary, they must persist in targeting the same location until a successful hit.

Last Player Standing:

  • The game continues until only one player eludes, spelling out "R.U.B.B.E.R.W.A.C.K."

  • The last standing player claims victory
